Keeping the Kids off of Screens
If you read my most recent blog about keeping the kids off of screens, you know that I was pretty worried about how we would sustain our summer with no screens.
Fortunately, fall got pretty busy, and the weather has remained good enough for us to get outside. Not to mention that we had plenty of pumpkin patches, apple orchards, hayrides, fall sports, Halloween activities, and Halloween crafts, costume making and decorating to keep us busy. One kiddo is working on her Piglet (from Winnie the Pooh) costume, and the other has laser focus on his Iron Spiderman costume.
The good news is, the no-screen rule is becoming more of a natural way of life. And with all the fun things going on in KC though, my “keep the kids busy” list has stayed pretty full:
- Listen to some kid-friendly music at one of four KC Symphony Family Series events, or catch the Battle of the Bands at Music House’s Fall Fest this weekend.
- Experience the fun of fine arts during family-friendly programs including Scavenger Saturdays at the Kemper Museum, or Free Weekend Fun at the Nelson-Atkins
- Visit Paradise Park for tons of hands-on, indoor and outdoor fun. The entertainment is really active, engaging and just plain fun for kids and adults! much of it is active
There’s still one more week full of Halloween fun. Visit our Events Calendar for more ideas and be sure to share your own creative ideas to keep kids off of screens in the comments section!
