Special Resources for Special Children
This week, we wanted to focus on a special population: children with disabilities. In addition to our extensive Special Needs Camps listing, below are two upcoming events hosted by the Blue Valley Special Education Advisory Council. Both events are open to the public (not just Blue Valley School District families) and are for parents and caretakers of children with special needs.
Mini Conference for Parents and/or Caretakers of a Child with a Disability: Taking place March 2, this event will include topics such as IEPs/504s, transitions, activities and more. Keynote speaker is Rex Hudler, former KC Royals baseball player and current Color Commentator for the KC Royals, and breakout sessions include everything from SENSORIUM©, a collection of interactive stations designed to educate people of all ages about sensory challenges that often co-exist with many disabilities; KC area sports and recreation options for those with intellectual disabilities; sibling support panel, and much more.
