Make the Most of the Outdoors

It’s like springtime in September! The weather is about as perfect as it gets in KC right now, and we are trying to make the most of it as a family.

Tonight, we enjoyed dinner in the backyard, then made a special visit out to Prairiefire  for a special dessert treat and a lot of running, jumping the creek and hiding in the tall grass at the Prairiefire Wetlands.

If you’re looking for something a little outside the regular trip to the neighborhood playground, here are some other ideas to enjoy what Mother Nature has to offer:

• Pick some apples at a local orchard
• Revel in the beauty of nature at Powell Gardens or the Overland Park Arboretum
• Head out to Fleming Park to go fishing, take a trip back in time at  Missouri Town 1855, watch the elk in the animal preserve, or test a flight at the model airplane field
• If all else fails, you can’t go wrong with a visit to our local animals at the KC Zoo or Deanna Rose Farmstead!
