KC Area Drive In Theaters

I have fond memories of going to the Drive In with my family as a child, and I still love to take my kids every summer to enjoy this summer-y way to watch movies. There have been tons of outdoor movies plaDrive-in-Theater-Entranceying in parks and shopping centers this summer, but this list offers the old-school way to see it outside…at the Drive In!

Boulevard Drive In: Featuring digital sound and play first-run movies, Boulevard is a fun experience for all. Open Fridays and Saturdays; cash only; Adults: $10, Kids: 11 & under are FREE. This weekend featuring Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Into the Storm and Guardians of the Galaxy on Friday, Aug. 22 and Saturday, Aug. 23. Located at 1051 Merriam Lane, Kansas City, KS 66103. I-70 Four Screen: With four screens, it’s easy to find something everyone will watch. Check web site for schedule. Adults: $10, Kids: 11 & under are FREE. Twin Drive-In: One of KC’s oldest drive ins still in operation, this Independence theater brings you back to the good old days. Check web site for complete schedule. One last note: If bedtime is an issue for your kids, the KC area Drive Ins run the family-friendlier movies earlier in the evenings. I can honestly say we’ve yet to make it past the first feature-length film in our family!
