Tuesday was Mardi Gras. Which means that Wednesday was Ash Wednesday. Which means that Lent is here. For practicing Catholics, it means 40 days of complying with Lenten regulations – the most notable being “no meat on Fridays”. I won’t bore you with the history behind this. Suffice it to say, though, the rule has spawned the mother of all church fundraisers – the Lenten Friday Night Fish Fry at many of Kansas City’s Catholic churches.
For Catholics, the church fish fry is an easy way to follow the rules without cooking fish at home. For EVERYONE, the church fish fry is great fun, good food and LOTS of fantastic neighbors and friends. Why not find one near you, pack up the kids and close your kitchen for the night?
